ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT & MISSION
Our mission at Fishability Alaska is to make oceangoing excursions accessible to as many people as possible. We do so knowing that "accessibility" and "disability" do not mean the same thing to all people.

Our boat was custom-built in order to maximize vessel accessibility, incorporating input given by people with disabilities. Captain Jack's ten-plus years working in disability communities gives him a strong background in understanding the need for adaptation, creativity, and problem-solving. And our goal is to continue learning and improving.

We are eager for your feedback as we strengthen and refine our approaches to improving access for our clients. We typically respond to written correspondence within 2 business days—but what we'd love most would be to get you on the boat, and hear what you think about what we're doing well, and where and how we might improve.
Questions or suggestions? Contact us.
FOCAL POINTS
For 2025, we are especially well-situated to welcome guests who utilize wheelchairs or other assistive mobility devices, and members of the autism community.

LIMITED MOBILITY
Our boat has extra-wide doors to allow access for mobility devices. Smooth surfaces to enable movement about the vessel. Grab bars. Extra deck space up front. And that's just for sightseeing. If you book a fishing trip, we've got adaptive gear: grasping cuffs for people with limited use of their wrists or hands. Palm cuffs for easier use of the reel. Wheelchair-mountable rod holders. We're happy to hear how we can help you have your best day on the water. Give us a call if you have any questions.

AUTISM COMMUNITY
Captain Jack is a Certified Autism Specialist, accredited through the IBCCES. Fishability is also certified through Autism Double-Checked. Captain Jack has worked with youth, young adults, and adults with a wide range of support needs. When you join us for a trip, we will do everything we can to ensure clear communication. We are also working to establish a "quiet zone" in the cabin for any passengers who may experience sensory overload.

OTHER NEEDS
In our first year, we expect to learn quite a bit about how best to serve our clients. If you have specific needs—or can recommend gear that we may not yet have considered—we hope to hear from you. Fishability Alaska is also a proud member of Fishing Has No Boundaries, our freshwater friends in Wisconsin.
